This morning I had my second standing meeting with the Adobe team. Our objective with these meetings is to carry steam from the recent two-day that Jason Tinnin and I participated in a few weeks ago.
We want to see significant developments in many aspects of BC: platform, marketing, support, and the partner network - but most importantly we want to make sure that partners are sitting at the table in as many decisions as possible. I am happy to report that things are looking bright for the next few releases.
I've been hoping for a long time that Adobe would be able to put the best minds on some of these problems that us partners are trying to solve for our customers. What I wanted to see was some out of the box thinking that pushes the envelope and makes workflows better and features planned out in ways that I couldn't have even imagined.
Between the standing meeting and another tech one-on-one that I had with a top product manager, it is starting to click. Its clear that the team took our vision framework and started to run with it. There were a couple of developments that came out of features we had brought into the fold that will change how we develop and open up some serious limits on email, templates, and reports.
What I saw today was not a panacea for all of the issues on the table. It was not a comprehensive bug completion list or something, but it was: clear the team has turned the corner on getting it. They had looked at real problems that we are facing right now in the partner-verse and said: "here is how we plan to solve this problem" - AND THE PLANS WERE SOLID! We won't see a single release that just gives us everything, but a series of releases that will move the needle and make a noticeable difference in the Online Businesses we build.
I also don't have specifics on this, but it did sound like Adobe is going to be expanding resources for BC. Mostly around ramping back up post-Creative Cloud, but I got the feeling that we are going to get more goodness from Adobe in regards to overall manpower. I will let them make that official, but hey, I'm here to help bridge the gap so I might as well call it as I see it.
As we've mentioned in other posts, it all comes down to: delivery! I plan to keep everyone in the loop as much as I can while I have the privilege to participate with the team at the level I have been able to.
I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone at the San Jose September 24 conference. We're going to see a good launch event - and as always, the networking alone is worth the trip.
